Teen Challenge  began through the work of a young man named David Wilkerson who committed himself to helping young drug addicts and troubled youth of New York in the 1950's.

The first Teen Challenge rehabilitation training center began in Brooklyn, New York, in 1958 under the directorship of Don Wilkerson.

Today there are over 1000 TC rehabilitation centers in over 90 countries around the world.

In 1995 Don Wilkerson  began Global Teen Challenge.  In that year Don sent Jesse Owens to Kazakhstan to meet with Douglas Boyle a graduate of Teen Challenge Australia (1975).  Teen Challenge Kazakhstan was born and Doug began the residential rehabilitation training work with ten students.  Teen Challenge has been serving the people of Kazakhstan for 15 years.

In 2009 Douglas Boyle (General Director of TCK) and the Executive Director of TCK  came to Tbilisi, to see if Teen Challenge could be of service to the people of Georgia.

They met with various city and government officials, and church leaders.  Interest was shown in the proposal of a Teen Challenge center in Tbilisi,  Georgia.

In June 2009, Douglas and Anna Boyle returned to Tbilisi,  with four Teen Challenge Kazakhstan nationals. A conference was held which focused on drugs and the work of rehabilitation training.  Three hundred people attended the conference.

Douglas and Anna returned to Georgia at the beginning of October 2009 for one month during which time they met with local authorities who were helpful and positive.

A building was found.  Procurement commenced, with all necessary documentation, permits etc. When fully completed the building will be an excellent home for TEEN CHALLENGE GEORGIA.

A  TCK team has  relocated to Tbilisi,  in order to prepare a facility and begin initial training of students.  The team consists of four Kazakhstan nationals plus an Australian couple who will provide English language teaching.

In August 2010 Teen Challenge Georgia was officially registered as a Noncommercial Legal Entity : "Humanitarian Fund Teen Challenge Georgia".
